How a Wednesday runs

The whole evening, so nothing is a surprise

Same shape every month. Arrive late, leave early, or stay to the end — all three are completely normal and nobody keeps score.

  1. 18:30 – 19:00Social

    Doors, drinks, name tags

Turn up whenever suits. Someone on the door will hand you a name tag and point you at the drinks.

  2. 19:00 – 19:05Social

    The intro round

Names and one line about what you are thinking about lately. Thirty seconds each, passing is fine, no pitches.

  3. 19:05 – 19:35

    The talk or the prompt

    A member, usually

One short talk, or a question put to the room. Slides are optional and mildly discouraged.

  4. 19:35 – 20:30Panel

    Conversation, in whatever groups form

The actual point of the evening. Chairs get moved; that is the sign it is working.

  5. 20:30 – 21:00Social

    Second drink, quieter half

About a third of the room heads home here. Nobody notices, nobody minds.

  6. 21:00SocialWherever is still open

Out, or on to the pub next door

Entirely optional and reliably where the best conversations end up.

A member sharing something with the group

What this is + what it isn't.

A casual monthly meetup, started in 2020 in someone's living room. No membership fee, no networking-card-swap, no speaker circuit. The Wi-Fi password is "be kind" and we mean it.

  • 380 members · about 25 at each event
  • First Wednesday of the month, 7pm · location rotates
  • Free forever — the venue is donated, the cake is potluck
03Everyone arrived alone once

Your first meetup

  1. RSVP

One click from the email. No form, no ticket, no fee — the RSVP just tells us how many chairs and snacks.

  2. Show up (alone is normal)

Half the room arrived alone their first time. Look for the person with the name tags — that's your welcome committee of one.

  3. Say what you're into

The only ritual: a thirty-second round of names and what you're thinking about lately. No pitches. Applause anyway.

  4. Come back next month

That's genuinely it. By your third Wednesday, people save you a seat. By your sixth, you're the welcome committee.

The Wednesday that stuck.

5 out of 5 stars
I moved to this city knowing nobody and came to a meetup because the email said "new faces welcome" and sounded like it meant it. Three years later half my closest friends are first-Wednesday people.

Fair questions

Do I need to be an expert in the topic?+

No. Curiosity is the entry requirement. Some members are twenty years deep, some started last month — the conversation needs both.

Can I bring a friend?+

Please. Just add them to your RSVP so the chair math works.

Is it talks or just conversation?+

Usually one short talk or a prompt, then conversation. The anniversary nights do lightning talks — five minutes, kind audience.

Is the venue accessible?+

We only book step-free venues, and the RSVP email lists specifics each month. Tell us what you need and we'll sort it.

Can I host or suggest a topic?+

Yes to both — the email list votes on topics, and member-hosted nights are how the best ones have happened.

What if I'm shy?+

You can pass on the intro round, and nobody works the room here. Sitting quietly with a drink is a fully respected way to attend.

Friends shoulder to shoulder on a lookout bench

Come to the next one.

First Wednesday, 7pm, free. The worst case is a decent evening; the usual case is much better.

Free · monthly · all welcome
A long table set for a shared dinner

One email a month.

The next event, the RSVP link, and the topic vote. That's it — stop any time.

RSVP, or start a chapter near you

RSVPs, questions, and "can we do this in our city?" all land here. We help sibling chapters get started — three exist so far.
