Every course runs eight weeks with the same six classmates and the same teacher. Levels follow the CEFR scale, so what you finish with means something outside this building.

A1 · Absolute beginner

For people who know nothing at all. You speak in the first lesson, badly and cheerfully, and it goes from there.

03One level per season

From placement to fluent

  1. The placement test

    Free, 25 minutes, half written and half conversation. You leave knowing your CEFR level and which class fits.

  2. Eight weeks at your level

    Weekly 90-minute classes with the same five classmates and the same teacher. Homework is short and speaking-based.

  3. The level exam

    A low-drama check at week eight — 93% pass first try, because the class was the preparation.

  4. Up a level, or out in the world

    Continue to the next level, switch to conversation club to maintain, or book the intensive before your trip.

Common questions

I'm a complete beginner. Which class?+

A1 — and you're in good company; it's our biggest intake. The placement test still helps us seat you with the right group.

What if I miss a class?+

Every group lesson has a same-week online catch-up slot, and your teacher sends the materials so you don't fall behind.

Online or in-person — is one better?+

The method and class caps are identical. In-person students love the room; online students love the commute. Mixing is allowed.

Do you teach kids?+

After-school French and Spanish for ages 8–14, same six-student cap. Ask about the term schedule.

Can my company pay?+

Yes — we invoice employers directly and run private group classes for teams of three or more.

What happens after C1?+

Conversation club, film nights, and our tandem-partner list. At that point you don't need classes — you need mileage.

What if the class is too easy or too hard?+

Tell your teacher in the first fortnight and we move you, at no charge. The placement test is good but it is twenty-five minutes, and a class is eight weeks.

I did four years of this at school. Where does that put me?+

Usually A2, occasionally B1, and almost never where people expect. School language and spoken language diverge fast — the placement test settles it in half an hour.

Can I just do conversation club?+

From B1 upwards, yes, and plenty of people do exactly that for years. Below B1 you will find it discouraging rather than useful, and we will say so.

Reception is open through the whole teaching day, so you can walk in and take the placement test without booking — allow about twenty-five minutes.
